« The Faithful – the Story of Annie Rozier »
After twenty years with an amateur theatre company, Anne Nozière became involved with various professional institutions and companies. Her work, whether collaborative or individual, is always demanding, experimental, physical, and often musical. It shows a purposeful originality that has delighted the press and the public. Eventually this journey, which she calls “a great training ground”, led her to create more on her own.
She founded her company and started to write “The Faithful – the Story of Annie Rozier” a comic yet intimate text that was awarded first prize (by unanimous vote) by the Aide à la création du Centre national du théâtre et du soutien de la SACD à l’auteur (a national theatrical institution that supports creation and new authors). The text, published by the Solitaires Intempestifs, was the starting point of an ambitious production that would only be completed after three years of work. The ensuing play, which eventually opened at the National Theatre of Bordeaux in 2010 before touring France, received the Souffleur’s prize for “Most explosive play”, and was selected by the Charte ONDA (National Office for Artistic Development), and by the 2011 Festival Impatience (Odéon – Théâtre de l’Europe).
Anne Nozière‘s new play La Petite will soon open at the Théâtre National de la Colline in Paris and will run from September 27 to October 27, 2012 before touring France. This will be another test of her writing, which is always done in close collaboration with the actors she hires.
